Camellia Oil ( Tea Seed Oil )

Camellia oil, also known as tea seed oil  is the actual green tea oil. It comes from the seeds of Camellia sinensis, the plant from which all the tea is made. Tea seed oil is a wonderfully healthy in more ways than one. It is great for cooking, and from nutritional point of view. Tea seed oil is used in a number of beauty products. This oil has been used as a cooking for centuries in Southern China and they make many more uses with it.

Source

Camellia oil is extracted from the seeds of the tea plant. That makes it the real tea oil. Tea tree oil on the other hand does not come from the tea plant. It comes from the tree called Melaleuca alternifolia, which is native to Australia. There are some varieties of Camellia oil.

  • Camellia sinensis oil – This is the tea seed oil.
  • Camellia japonica oil – Also known as Japanese tea oil. However, this plant does not produce tea leaves. It is a flowering plant with red blooms. Its oil is known as tsubaki oil and it is used heavily in cosmetic applications.
  • Camellia oleifera oil – This is known as tea oil or Camellia oil.

So, technically the naming can be a bit confusing. The Camellia sinensis and oleifera oil are the ones referred to as Camellia oil in general and may be used interchangeably. The Camellia Japonica oil is better known as Tsubaki and it is also different in terms of its chemical composition and nutritional value.
The oil is extracted using solvent extraction or cold processing. One might hear about cold filtered oil, but that does ot mean cold pressed oil. If the contents used to make oil are heated prior to oil extraction, it may change the chemical composition and properties of nutrients in that oil, which is often not natural.

Standards
Tea seed oil production is well monitored using quality control techniques [1]. This oil has great commercial value in China as it is used by a huge fraction of the population. The oil is also getting attention from prominent international organizations like FAO. Since it is used as a cooking oil, it needs to be correctly monitored for its fatty acid profile.

Health Benefits

Tea seed oil can be applied topically and consumed internally to obtain its health benefits. Because of its healing properties, there are many of benefits to be availed.

1. Camellia oil for Skin
Women in China confide in tea seed oil for many beauty applications. This oil is great for use in home-made topical application products. It is a nice moisturizer for the skin because of its exceptionally high oleic acid ( omega – 9 ) content. It is light and is quickly absorbed into the skin, much like olive oil. These are some of the ways in which tea seed oil is used for skin care.

  • Apply a small amount right after a shower for achieving soft, silky smooth skin. It reduces dryness and paleness of skin caused due to showering for long time.
  • Apply a small amount on scars, like acne scars, wounds, cuts and scrapes. It helps to heal them.
  • Add a small amount of camellia oil to your home-made sunscreen. There are many formulations for sunscreen to be made at home, most using zinc oxide. It improves the SPF by about 5 points.
  • Massage tea seed oil on wrinkle and fine lines. Its anti-aging capabilities help to reduce signs of damage caused by the sun. It makes a nice face massage oil for the night.
  • Treat rough skin with camellia oil, like the skin on the knees and heels. They are prone to dryness and cracks.
  • Nail Softener – Dip your nails in warm camellia oil. It softens the nails and makes them more easy to manage.
  • Make up remover – Tea seed oil is great at removing makeup. It is actually used in makeup removers.
  • For Acne – One should avoid using it on active acne because it is not sure whether this oil is comedogenic or not. It might lead to acne breakouts.

2. Camellia Oil for Hair

Camellia oil, or tea seed oil is not as renowned for hair care as the Camellia japonica oil. That oil is much more powerful for hair care. However, tea seed oil too can be used. One can do a hot oil conditioning using tea seed oil. It feels similar to olive oil. There is a pretty unique way to apply Camellia oil to hair. This method involves dipping a wooden comb in camellia oil for a few hours, and then combing hair with it. This provides the hair with small amounts of camellia oil each time, which conditions them and makes it easy to comb without tangles.

3. Anti-Cancer
Tea oil has been identified to prevent the proliferation of specifically three cancers. These are the colon cancer, uterus cancer and breast cancer [4]. This effect opens avenues for further studies on the effectiveness of camellia oil to reduce the risk of these cancers. One can easily take it in diet by cooking food with it.

4. Boost Immunity
Regular consumption of tea seed oil boosts the functioning of our immune system. This helps to fend off all kinds of diseases and infections. [5] This effect is due to micronutrients called triterpenoids in camellia oil.

5. Reduces oxidative stress
This is a kind of stress that free radicals put on our body. It has been found that oxidative stress can be a leading cause of heart disease and degenerative diseases. The antioxidants from tea seed oil reduce oxidative stress and help our body deal with free radical damage. [5]

Uses

Camellia oil is used for a variety of other purposes.

We know eucalyptus is for opening up stuffy noses and colds I tell you more about what you can use eucalyptus for.

Eucalyptus Oil Benefits

Eucalyptus oil benefits are due to its ability to stimulate immunity, provide antioxidant protection and improve respiratory circulation.

Originally referred to as “eucalyptol” by the scientific community, the health benefits of eucalyptus oil come from a chemical now known as cineole — an organic compound shown to hold astounding, widespread medicinal effects, including everything from reducing inflammation and pain to killing leukemia cells!

At the time I wrote this article, over 1,200 scientific research studies were conducted referring to cineole, and the results are simply amazing.

Although eucalyptus has the highest known cineole levels of any plant (up to 80–95 percent), scientists have discovered that several other plants have significant levels ofcineole as well:

This may be one of the reasons why a mixture of the essential oils extracted from these plants have such a powerful synergistic effect. Like most things in nature, the harmonious effects of multiple healing agents working together create astounding super remedies.

  • Colds & Flu

Eucalyptus works as an expectorant and helps cleanse your body of toxins and harmful microorganisms that can make you feel sick. One of the most effective ways to utilize eucalyptus for colds is to drop several drops of the essential oil into your diffuser before going to sleep so you can take advantage of the healing benefits all night long.

For more acute situations, you can make a steam bath by pouring a cup of boiling water into a bowl, and then mix 10 drops of eucalyptus EO, place a towel over your head and inhale deeply for five–10 minutes.

  • Hair Nourishment

A few drops eucalyptus oil with some coconut or olive oil gives your hair a nice moisturizing pick-me-up. This is especially great to ward off dandruff and an itchy scalp. Also, eucalyptus is used as a natural remedy for lice in replacement of chemical treatments.

  • Hand Cleaner

Eucalyptus EO is an excellent cleanser to remove grease and grime from your workday and can rejuvenate sore hands and feet when mixed into your salt bath. Simply mix sea salt, epsom salt and eucalyptus oil to remove grease and dirt for good.

  • Sinus and Allergies

A study from NYU Medical School found that using eucalyptus was effective at treatingsinusitis. Patients experienced faster improvement when supplementing with eucalyptus oil for allergies and sinus issues. The study had participants take eucalyptus oil internally, and it’s also recommended to gargle with it to clear the throat.

  • Natural Home Care

Not only does eucalyptus give a nice, fresh fragrance to your home products, but it adds vital anti-microbial properties as well. You can’t go wrong putting several drops into pretty much everything: soap, laundry detergent, mop water, toilet cleaner, window cleaner … the list goes on!

  • Odor Remover

Whether you’re battling smelly shoes or a stinky dog bed, topically wash items to remove odors with a wet rag soaked in eucalyptus oil-infused water, and place outside to dry in the sun. This can prevent odors as well as keep the shape intact! You may also mix it with lemon oil or tea tree oil for an anti-stink spray.

  • Air Cleanser

Try putting a few drops into your vacuum and clothes dryer filters to freshen them up and sanitize them a little. Also, it’s great for killing mold in your home, and you can mix eucalyptus with other oils like clove and tea tree oil to cleanse the air and maintain a mold-free home.

  • Spot Remover

Like lemon essential oil, eucalyptus oil is highly effective at removing spots on your carpet, clothes and basically every fabric you have in the house. It even works to get gum off your shoes! Make sure to “test” it on an inconspicuous place first just to make sure the oil doesn’t react strangely with the material you treat. You just don’t know what’s in the synthetic materials nowadays!

  • Respiratory Problems

Eucalyptus essential oil is highly effective for treating respiratory problems, such asasthma, bronchitis, COPD, pneumonia and even tuberculosis. Using eucalyptus for asthma is a proven treatment that dilates the blood vessels and allows more oxygen into the lungs. Simply mix eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil and coconut oil for a Homemade Vapor Rub, and put on upper chest.

  • Wound Treatment

Eucalyptus oil has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that are effective at treating wounds, burns, cuts, abrasions, sores and scrapes. It also can be made into a salve or healing ointment and put on bug bites and stings. Along with acting as a natural pain reliever to the area, it also keeps the area from getting infected, which speeds healing.

The list goes on, but don’t forget to use eucalyptus on your pets! It’s proven to be safe in pretty much any way that you would use it on yourself. Just be sure to keep it out of eyes and any open wounds!

Eucalyptus Studies and Research

Some of the most exciting eucalyptus oil research out today shows that it can help prevent drug-resistant bacterial infections like tuberculosis (TB). As more strains of TB continue to evolve defenses against the drug protocols traditionally used, a major public health concern has risen to the forefront — especially for regions like Africa, which are still highly affected by HIV/AIDS.

One study, published in the Journal of Natural Products this past March, set out to evaluate how utilizing Eucalyptus citriodora essential oil fared against the inhaling drug-resistant TB (MDR/XDR-TB). In addition to discovering 32 active anti-TB compounds in E citriodora, it observed the way that multiple components interacted with each other and discovered that certain combinations literally inhibited airborne TB by over 90 percent!

Other studies evaluating the benefits of inhaling eucalyptus show similarly amazing results due to its powerful anti-inflammatory effect.

A researcher out of Bonn University Hospital in Germany published an article in the journal Drug Research this past May highlighting how the cineole commonly found in eucalyptus essential oil is actually an effective long-term therapy to help control COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) symptoms and improve asthma.

Eucalyptus benefits even include lowering high blood pressure! French researchers tested eucalyptus oils’ ability to relax rat aortas and found it quite effective.

As you can see, eucalyptus oil uses and benefits are incredible. This is an essential oil to keep stocked in your natural first aid kit or home medicine cabinet.

I love, love, love the smell of this lavender most of them smell fake, and this smells just like the real wild lavender plant. It is relaxing. Lets see how many ways we can use lavender oil should we ?

  • Skin irritations: Therapeutic-grade Lavender oil has been excellent in soothing and healing minor skin irritations. As long as the skin is not broken or raw, Lavender can be used to bring healing and soothing comfort to minor skin irritations.
  • Cure for Ringworm: Our 2 year old got a ringworm infection on her belly. We had lavender oil and rubbed a few drops on the infected area. Within a few days, the ringworm was completely gone. It was a great, natural therapy for a minor ringworm infection, without the fear of any man-made chemicals touching out baby’s young skin.
  • Acne treatments: because acne is often caused by skin oils and bacteria, the antiseptic properties of Lavender can be very effective at managing acne. However, it should be tested on small areas and even diluted for some skin types as it can be a little irritating for very sensitive skin types.
  • Tension / massage: Lavender oil can also be used to help relieve tension in sore and bruised muscles. It can be used effectively to bring relief and relaxation for a muscle massage.
  • alming for acute anxiety (anxiolytic – anti-anxiety) – Anxiety can often come from unresolved fears or familiar circumstances (triggers) that cause a learned anxiety response. Over time, a person can learn to re-program the anxiety response when triggered by anxiety causing agents. Though this is not recommended for major anxiety disorders that require a medical professional, acute anxiety or panic attacks can eventually be re-programmed. By utilizing essential Lavender oil into the post-anxiety relief process and re-programming, one can create stronger, calming memories of the aromas of Lavender while learning to get out of the triggering circumstance and taking control of the situation
  • Helping little ones prepare for bed: Many children can benefit from a calm, predictable routine at a consistent time each night. When Lavender oil is added to the regimen, it can be even more effective. Rub a few drops of oil on the soles of the little one’s feet. We have even put a few drops on our fingers and touched the under-side of their noses so they would smell it and develop a calming routine with a familiar smell. And, since the smell center of the brain is very close to the memory center, this kind of pattern can produce strong, peaceful memories for little ones as they grow older
  • Winding down before bed as an adult or assisting with sleep disorders – Many adults suffer from sleep disturbances and sleep disorders that range from mild to severe. At many levels, lavender oils and diffusing lavender into the room can help promote calm, restful nights and actually help a person regain some life energy by gaining more restful sleep. Some have used this inside of their CPAP mask and have reported increased sleep effectiveness of up to 35% more sleep per night
  • Soothing and cleansing common cuts – In World War I, René Gattefossé experimented on soldiers in military hospitals by using Lavender and other antiseptic essential oils with quite positive results. This same oil can be used to help heal minor cuts by safely killing germs that prevent normal healing.
  • Safely moisturizing chapped lipsOnly pure therapeutic-grade Lavender oil should be considered safe for ingesting or use on skin areas. Be sure your bottle does not say “for external use only” as it is not pure therapeutic-grade and is not worth the money spent on it. Apply as needed to areas of chapped lips in the dry winter season to relieve dry, burning, chapped lips and to promote healing and moisturizing effects.
  • insect repellant that is safe without side effects- Perhaps you have heard of all the dangers of using man-made insect repellents and the toxicity / build up of these kinds of chemicals in the world. Also, there are all kinds of home-remedy type insect repellents or oils that just don’t seem to do the trick. Lavender oil is a unique insect repellant that is safe, effective and has no side effects (except positively balancing the mood and stabilizing mental states). Before reaching for the next can of over-the-counter bug spray, try essential Lavender oil.
  • Eczema relief and dermatitis – Using Lavender oils alone or with other essential oils that are good for the skin can help bring relief to the dryness or the inflammation caused by eczema and dermatitis. Many children have eczema patches as well and eventually grow out of them. Using Lavender oil is safe and effective.
  • Soothing tension and headaches – Sometimes, rubbing a few drops on the temples and / or on the back of the neck or trapezius muscles can really help bring relief and reduce the headaches caused by tension. Try this before reaching for that bottle of ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
  • Sinusitis and allergy flare-ups – Both Lavender and Peppermint oil can be very effective for helping to reduce the flare ups from allergies and sinusitis (inflammation of the sinus linings). Place a few drops near the affected areas, nasal passages, temples, forehead, back of the neck, between the eyes (but certainly not in the eyes) – and test some near your eyes to make sure the vapors are not too intense for your eyes as it can irritate or cause the eyes to water a bit.
  • Relief with heart palpitationsLavender oil, being a natural tonic and sedative, can also be inhaled in pure form to help with heart palpitations and a rapid heart beat. Practice making calm and quiet surroundings and inhaling Lavender oils when your heart is racing. Be sure to stay with your doctor’s advice if you have a condition or are on medications.
  • Respiratory infections – Lavender can be used in a vaporizer to help kill germs and promote healing due to respiratory infections.
  • Irritation from shingles – Adult onset of shingles due to the Herpes Zoster virus can be quite irritating and downright painful. Some people have used Lavender oil to alleviate the pain, irritation and itching caused by shingles. Also, because shingles can often be associated with life stressors, Lavender can help with that too.
  • After surgery pain relief – Although there have been more reported testimonials, one study done on biopsy patients (reported at the University of Maryland Medical Center) for after surgery pain relief showed significant pain decrease in patients who received oxygen with Lavender aromatherapy versus those who just received oxygen without aromatherapy in post-operative scenarios.
  • Lavender infused tea and other drinks – Using Lavender in a nice cup of hot tea can help as a nice wind-down drink after dinner or with a decaffeinated tea before bed. It can also be used with a nice Chamomile tea or “Sleepy time” tea before bed or when trying to relax.
  • Lavender in breads and cooking – Experiment with Lavender oil (digestible kind) in your fruit breads and other dishes. It can provide a wonderful complexity and aromatics to some of your favorite dishes. Try adding a drop or 2 to a few bites before adding it to a complete recipe to be sure you like it first.

I think baking with it would be freaking awesome. But be for you use  it a topical PLEASE CONSULT A DOCTOR.

Majestic Pure Frankincense Essential Oil, Therapeutic Grade, 4 fl. Oz

This can be used to a million things I will let you know for what and how to use this.

I like to use it in my diffuser  when I’m feel stressed or over whelmed with life. So here is some things it can be used for .

  • Immune System: Frankincense Oil is effective as an antiseptic, and even the fumes or smoke obtained from burning it have antiseptic and disinfectant qualities that eliminate the germs in the space where the smoke filters out. It can be applied on wounds without any known side effects to protect them from tetanus and becoming septic. It is equally good on internal wounds and protects them from developing infections.

  • Oral Health: Those same antiseptic qualities also make frankincense oil a useful preventative measure against oral issues, like bad breath, toothaches, cavities, mouth sores, and other infections. Look for natural oral care products that include frankincense oil if you enjoy the flavor or aroma, and want to include a strong antiseptic in your health regimen. You can even create your own all-natural toothpaste with frankincense oil and baking soda, or a mouthwash with water and peppermint oil.

  • Astringent: The astringent property of Frankincense Oil has many benefits, because it strengthens gums, hairroots, tones and lifts skin, contracts muscles, intestines and blood vessels, and thereby gives protection from premature losses of teeth and hair. This astringent quality also reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and combats the loss of firmness of intestines, abdominal muscles, and limbs associated with age. Above all, frankincense acts as a coagulant, helping to stop bleeding from wounds and cuts. This astringent property also helps to relieve diarrhea of various types.

  • Emenagogue: Frankincense essential oil reduces obstructed and delayed menstruation and delays the advent of menopause. It also helps curing other symptoms associated with menses and Post Menstrual Syndrome, such as pain in the abdominal region, nausea, headache, fatigue, and mood swings.

  • Carminative:Frankincense oil eliminates gas and prevents it from building up in the body. This removal of excess gas from the intestines also gives relief from associated problems like stomach aches, pain in the abdominal region and chest, abnormal amounts of sweating, uneasiness, indigestion and many other related conditions.

  • Cicatrisant: This is an interesting property of Frankincense Oil, and since skin health and anti-aging are such hot topics these days, this essential oil has become even more important! When applied topically or inhaled, it can makes the scars and after marks of boils, acne and pox on the skin fade at a much faster rate. This also includes the fading of stretch marks, surgery marks, and fat cracks associated with pregnancy and delivery of children.

  • Digestive: Suffering from indigestion due to that turkey last night? A patient of chronic indigestion and acidity? Fed up with those antacids? Then you should try Frankincense Oil instead. This oil has digestive properties without any side effects, and it facilitates digestion the way most medicines should, unlike common antacids which only suppress the symptoms. This oil speeds up the secretion of digestive juices (gastric juices, bile and acids) in the stomach and facilitates movement offood through the intestines by stimulating peristaltic motion. This means an all-around improvement in the digestion of food.

  • Anti-Aging: As a Cytophylactic, Frankincense Oil promotes regeneration of healthy cells and also keeps the existing cells and tissues healthy. When you combine this aspect of frankincense oil with its powerful astringent capabilities, you have a potent anti-aging quality that frankincense oil is often used for. It can help you to eliminate sun spots, remove micro-wrinkles around the eyes and cheeks, and generally tone and tighten skin all over your body, while simultaneously replacing old or dying cells with new, healthy ones!

  • Tonic: Overall, frankincense essential oil tones and boosts health and is therefore considered a tonic. It benefits all the systems operating in the body, including the respiratory, digestive, nervous, and excretory systems, while also increasing strength by aiding the absorption of nutrients into the body. Furthermore, frankincense oil strengthens the immune system and keeps you strong and protected for the future.

  • Diuretic: If you thought that Lasix and its variants were the only drugs that could help you release water from the body through urination, you were incorrect. Those pharmaceutical options may be instantaneous, but not very safe. Frankincense essential oil is a natural and safe alternative. It promotes urination and helps you lose that extra water weight, as well as fats, sodium, uric acid and various other toxins from the body, with the added advantage of lowering blood pressure. The best part about this is that frankincense essential oil is completely safe and has no adverse side effects.

  • Respiratory Issues: It soothes coughs and eliminates phlegm deposited in the respiratory tracts and the lungs. Frankincense essential oil also provides relief from bronchitis and congestion of nasal tract, larynx, pharynx, bronchi, and lungs. Its antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties also help relax the breathing passages, which can reduce the dangers of asthma attacks, and its antiseptic qualities are what give it the reputation of being an immune system booster! It also eases body pain, headaches, toothaches and balances the rise in body temperature commonly associated with colds.

  • Stress andAnxiety: Frankincense Oil is very effective as a sedative, because it induces a feeling of mental peace, relaxation, satisfaction and spirituality. It also awakens insight, makes you more introspective and lowers anxiety, anger and stress. When feeling anxious or if you anticipate some sort of stressful episode, add some frankincense oil to a diffuser or a vaporizer. Frankincense essential oil promotes deep breathing and relaxation, which can open your breathing passages and reduce blood pressure, moving your mental state back to calmness.

  • Uterine: This oil is very good for uterine health. Since it regulates the production of the estrogen hormone, it reduces the chances of post-menopause tumor or cyst formation in the uterus, also known as uterine cancer. In terms of the pre-menopause period, it keeps a woman’s uterus healthy by regulating proper menstrual cycles. It also treats or regulates gynecologic conditions or stressors that can lead to complicated dysfunctions in certain women.

  • Vulnerary: Simply apply a diluted solution of this oil on wounds, or use it blended with a skin cream, and your wounds will heal faster and be protected from infections. This oil is equally beneficial in healing internal wounds, cuts and ulcers.

  • Other Benefits: It relieves pain associated with rheumatism and arthritis. It helps heal boils, infected wounds, acne, circulatory problems, insomnia and various types of inflammation.

  • Add Frankincense to your daytime lotion or night cream for a custom moisturizer that highlights your natural beauty.

  • Relieve arthritis pain and swelling.  Mix with a carrier (such a Simple Salve or DIY healing salve) and rub into aching joints at night before bed and throughout the day,

  • Remove moles, skin tags, and warts.  Apply a single drop 3 or 4 times a day until gone.  Note that if the mole is dark and ragged around the edges and/or growing quickly, see your healthcare professional for an assessment and possible treatment.

  • Remove musty odors.  Place a couple of drops in a small dish of water and the room will take on a much fresher smell.

So here are just a few of the things that it Frankincense can do so PLEASE CONSULT A DOCTOR BEFORE USE.
